Walk Leader - Wendy Chisholm

Weather was good with a slight breeze on today's hill walk over on the Pentland Hills.  13.5km circular route from Flotterstone uphill skirting round the NE path below the Castlelaw firing range.  Had a quick pit stop to admire the view over the Reservoir and then headed off toward the path up to the trig on Allermuir Hill (493m), with great views of the surrounding hills and over to the 3 bridges.  Continued the route up and over to Capelaw Hill (454m), across the plateau onto Harbour Hill (421m), and downhill to the gate at Maiden’s Cleugh where we have our lunch stop in the lovely sunshire.  We then headed uphill again onto Bell’s Hill (406m) and off the end of the hill heading downhill, unfortunately we had to follow the path through the overgrown bracken, back onto the path along the Glencorse Reservoir back to the car park.  

As usual, some of us enjoyed an end of walk coffee/refreshment and cake at the small visitor centre cafe before returning home.

It was nice to welcome visitors from other Ramblers groups who joined our walk. Fiona from the Kelso Borders, Robert from Dalgetty Bay, Janet from Cumbernauld & Kilsyth, and Keith and Erna from Linlithgow.
