The sun is out and it promises to be a glorious day and 16 of us are meeting up . At the car park one by one the group arrive , all sorts of sun hats on view . One of the party turns up just as we are about to set off , so close to missing us ! We stroll past a kids playpark which is occupied and listen to some childish voices of laughter . Into Calendar Estate which is lovely and green with the sounds of birds twittering away , I attempt to block out the idle chatter at my back . A few fellow walkers and dog walkers are making the most of the day as well . Now before us are some ladies in bright pink , runners for the Run for Life charity . Good on them though there appear to be more of them walking than running .

The chat is carrying on and I have made the mistake of taking part , so much so that as I see the Estates exit it dawns on me we have passed the coffee spot . Lets stop now I advise and some are happy to do so in the full sun . A few others like myself prefer the shade and have a quiet cuppa . 2 mins warning are announced and some are quicker than others to get ready . Down the path and we have a road to cross which is fairly busy but aren't they all ? Now into an area of bushes and more greenery with the stream down by us . Back up and here is the other road to cross , which finally we do . Now we are entering the Westquarter Glen , lots of shade and more bird song way above us . A few of the group have never been into the glen which does not surprise me , its a lovely little hidden gem . I have promised a waterfall in full spate and I am sure that it will live up to my expectations . Lunch is the question , its only 12.00 don't you know !! Down some rather steep stairs with muttering at the back of me which I pretend to be oblivious too . Round a small park just to build up the anticipation don't you know ,before once again we enter the glen . Walking along the stream we see in front a dog jumping in and out of the water having such fun .We stop to chat to the owner and one of the party receives a cooling spray of water from the dog . Lunch someone suggests , honestly its only , well it is getting on time wise but we shall press on to the main event .

Climb up and then take a sharp turn down to a waterfall , didn't I promise this ? Ok so now back up and before anyone can ask (again) I announce lunch . Sun is out but we are in the shade , its very pleasant to be in the cool and have our lunch .

Some would linger longer but this is a walk we are on, is it not , so back over the top of the waterfall for a few pics . Then we drop down along the water and of course if you drop down then sooner or later you have to climb back up . Honestly our GP,s would be proud of us . Back to the 2 busy roads , have I mentioned these at all ? One of the gang is in a bit of discomfort so drops out and a taxi will take her back to the carpark , cu another time .  Now into the Estate once more and we have a problem . Where is the path , it was here a few days ago , it was ! In a matter of 5 days the foliage has covered it so well but I am up to the job and here it is . This I have warned the group could very well be on the muddy and slippery side but in fact the suns heat has more or less dried it out except for a few patches . So we make good time back to the parked cars and 10 of the group will drive to a nearby coffee n cake establishment . That's the carrot that keeps us going I think .Good day , good walk and the company wisnae too bad at all . . . . . . . . .
