"What was advertised as a leisurely, downhill walk from Killiecrankie to Pitlochry didn’t turn out quite as planned! All went well until we stopped to let the moderate route walkers out. After trying for a long time, the driver decided he could not get the coach out of the car park. We decided we would do the walk in reverse and be picked up from Killiecrankie. I was determined we would still start with the coffee as promised, and we would recommend the Garden Café. Delicious scones, good coffee and one of the most efficient services experienced.
The next issue was the route I chose to follow, coming off the main path to stay as close to the loch as possible. Unfortunately, I had forgotten both how much longer this route, how up and down it was not nor the number of tree roots. And I had explicitly said this was not the case! My apologies to those who found this hard, a cause of pain and / or stressful. On the other hand, all made it without injury!
The walk by the loch and River Garry was as beautiful as ever (well maybe not as much as in the autumn). The steps upwards at the end of the walk were hard going for some of us. They would have been a lot easier going down at the beginning of a walk! We arrived at the Visitor Centre in time to have refreshments from the café or our packed lunches. As the number the coach driver had given me (and checked) was incorrect, we weren’t sure what was happening, including whether the coach was still stuck in the car park. Fortunately, the coach arrived: it had been eighty minutes a car moved, and he could leave the car park. From then it was a smooth journey home."
