Walk Leader: Angela Barnes
A group of 15 enjoyed this walk along the River Avon and round Muiravonside Country Park. We welcomed Barbara and Caroline who joined our Group for the first time. It was a hot and sunny day and thankfully, much of the walk benefited from the welcome shade provided by the tree cover. The route took us past the lagoon, where several swimmers were making the most of the warm conditions, before joining the river. After a lovely walk along the river, we joined the Union Canal where we crossed the impressive Avon Aqueduct. A flight of approximately 100 steps took us down into Muiravonside Country Park where we stopped for a morning break by the river. We enjoyed a woodland and river walk around Muiravonside before stopping for lunch at the site of the former “Big House”, where there was an option to either sit in the sun or the shade.
Following lunch, we left the park and made our way to the Union Canal, crossing the aqueduct once more before following the canal towpath back towards Linlithgow. The day finished with some much-needed cool refreshments at the Bridge Inn.
Thanks to everyone that came along. Thanks to Billy for being backmarker and to Billy and Betty for taking some photographs. To see all the photos and videos, click on the following link: River Avon & Muiravonside Walk
