Forth Valley Ramblers

Seamab

Walk Leader - Wendy A

Overview

This walk in the Ochils climbs nearly 1000 ft from Castlehill reservoir to the top of Seamab overlooking Pool of Muckhart. It takes you through commercial pine forest and open grazing land planted with deciduous trees by Woodland Trust Scotland. We will take our time on the winding tracks of the ascent, stopping for breathers as necessary. There will be a coffee break on the shoulder of Auchlinsky hill - the summit itself is an unattractive prospect being reachable only via a heathery fire break with no discernible path, so we'll give that a miss! Lunch will be in a sheltered spot somewhere between the summits of Commonedge and Seamab, hopefully with marvellous views over the hilltops or down onto Muckhart and far beyond. The paths are good throughout with some tarmac and then forestry tracks on the ascent, soft, grassy paths on the tops, and narrow but clear woodland paths on the descent.
