Blog  -   Denny, Dunipace and Rosebank Woodland 

The rain was just coming on after having had lovely sunshine driving through, as 19 of our group started the walk in Denny. In the first 15 minutes we had rain, hailstones, sleet, snow and then a peal of thunder as well as the wind. It really was unbelievable but as quickly as it came it went off again and apart from some drizzle we had a fairly dry walk.

We welcomed Barbara from Cumbernauld & Kilsyth and Jacquie and Jim from Perth & District all walking with us for the first time.

We stopped to look at the Chestnut Seed sculpture in Broad Street which contains drawing from the local primary school.

The River Carron was in full spate as we crossed the Green Bridge. We had a quick stop in the tunnel to look at the murals before making our way to Rosebank Community Woodland. Soon we at the famous chestnut tree, believed to be around 400 years old. It’s sapling planted nearby in 2020 is thriving. It was then into Herbertshire Park and lunch at the river followed by mini chocolate orange Easter eggs! A nice spot to stop for lunch. We headed back to cross the bridge again and made our way back along the other side of the river and to the cars.

Thanks everyone for coming out especially with the dreadful weather forecast predicted. I think we were all glad of the walk and the good company. There were options to cut the walk short but everyone opted to continue. Thanks to Wendy for being backmarker and to those who took photographs. I hope our 3 visitors enjoyed the walk and you will join us another time.  Most of us ended up at the Courtyard Coffee Shop so thanks to the staff there.
