Walk leader - Wendy Chisholm
9.5mi / 15km. Starting from Drumclog Moor parking at Mugdock Reservoir this was a nice circular walk via Milngavie Golf Club. Before joining the WHW path for a short distance, and then wandered through the golf course to pick up route past Laighpark farm and onto a small section of the Clyde Coastal Path. Stopping off in woodland for a quick tea break, before crossing Stockiemuir Road to turn up by the old schoolhouse along by the burn and follow the edge of the field up to the top gate to continue up the minor road, before turning off by the pylons. We headed up past the WW shelter in the field and then the heavens opened and we were battered by strong winds, and aimed for the treeline where rain stopped and we were then sheltered from the wind. We continued up to the rock formation in the Kilpatrick Hills known as Jesus' Thimble and the trig. Stopping here for our lunch, where we will lucky to get it dry, no wind and the sun shone. Then off again across the very wet boggy path to pass the end of Lucifer's Loch, and a wee walk up to the cairn, before heading back downhill towards the pylons and Carneddans Wood to retrace our steps. On the return we were welcomed into the Milngavie Golf Clubhouse for a quick hot coffee/tea and cake before heading back to the car park. As a wee treat, there was some homemade baking waiting for them to take home.
